Kurtbastian Ficlet: Ever After

Weird scene that got stuck in my head. I wish I knew what these two were doing inside my head that makes me come up with this stuff.

‘Kurt.’

‘Hi Sebastian.’

They stare at each other for half a second before Kurt drops his eyes and awkwardly tugs on the bottom of his waistcoat. Seeing Sebastian under the unsympathetic lights of the office corridor is much more confronting than merely exchanging brisk emails. Kurt couldn’t see Sebastian wearing the cuff links Carole got him for Christmas in an email. He couldn’t notice the little patch Sebastian missed shaving in an email. 

Sebastian’s gaze slides away from Kurt to settle of the shorter man currently talking to Sebastian’s attorney.

‘And you must be Blaine Anderson,’ says Sebastian, quickly connecting the man at Kurt’s side with the name he’s seen at the bottom of numerous letters. The tone of Sebastian’s voice makes Kurt look up sharply. He knows Sebastian well enough to recongnise the slightly sinister edge to his words. Kurt looks at Sebastian questioningly, but Sebastian is too busy offering his hand to Blaine.

‘It’s a pleasure to meet you, Mr Smythe,’ says Blaine simply. Sebastian’s squeezes Blaine’s hand tightly.

‘Oh, I’m quite sure the pleasure is all Kurt’s,’ replies Sebastian. Blaine blinks at him and Kurt rolls his eyes at Sebastian’s immaturity.

‘Excuse me?’

‘Nothing,’ continues Sebastian smoothly, sliding his hands into his pockets and looking over at his own lawyer. ‘Shall we get started? I’d like to get divorced before lunch, if possible. I have a craving for panini.’

“Wake up, gorgeous,” Blaine whispers by Kurt’s ear, and he smiles when Kurt’s face wrinkles up, his eyelashes fluttering.

“‘s cold,” Kurt mumbles, trying to burrow up into the sheets more than he already has, drawing them tight around his bare shoulders. Blaine rolls his eyes and slips back under the blankets with Kurt, smiling into Kurt’s hair when he tugs Blaine close and snuggles up against him. “Stay.”

Blaine rolls his eyes at the command, pressing his lips to Kurt’s temple. “You really don’t like waking up, huh?”

It’s not the first time they’ve slept together - the kind of sleeping together that involves actual sleeping, that is - but those moments are few and far between, and Blaine still isn’t used to waking up with someone warm next to him, breathing softly and trying to hog Blaine and the covers at the same time. He can’t really blame Kurt for not wanting to get up, actually.

“Mmm,” is all Kurt says, sliding his arm around Blaine’s waist and nuzzling his nose against Blaine’s collarbone.
